Obituary For Donald "Don" L. Dowding

"Donald L. Dowding, 92, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021, at his home in Yukon, Oklahoma. He was surrounded by family and his very special Hospice Nurse Cindy Suenram.

He was born December 27, 1928 in Seward, Nebraska. He moved his family to Yukon in 1959 and continued his work at Western Electric (AT&T, Lucent) until approximately 1993. With the help of his six children the family also took on additional custodial work at a local bank and car dealership. Donald was also a member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard 120th Medical Battalion for 41 years. His primary duty was running the kitchens. He spent many weekends preparing menus and cooking for his fellow guardsmen.

Donald brought his family to know Jesus through their attendance at St. John’s [Nepomuk Catholic Church]. He provided for the family through many trials and tribulations. In his later years he reflected on his life and prayed for forgiveness and his family’s continued good health and successes.

Donald will be missed by many. He will now be rejoined in Heaven with his loving wife Ramona of 66 years, his parents, two brothers, two sisters, a son-in-law, and many other relatives. He is survived by his children: Theresa Short (R.B.), Maria Dowding Goodwyn (Ben), Linda Penny, David Dowding (Rennie), Danny Dowding (Tammy), and LaDonna Wilson (Barry); 10 grandkids; 11 great-grandkids; a brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law; and his very special dog Precious.

It was a blessing to keep Donald in his home until his passing, it took a team effort. Our heartfelt thank you goes out to the team at Mercy Hospice, especially his nurse Cindy, a number of Visiting Angels who helped throughout the years, and the support and prayers of many family and friends
