Obituary For Joseph "Joe" J. Novotny
Joseph J. Novotny Jr. passed from this life on Thurs., Mar. 24, 2005 at Parkview Hospital in El Reno, OK. Joe is survived by wife Eloise, 5 children, Ronald Novotny, Richard Novotny, Jennie Box, Paul Beville, and Judy Turley, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren & two sisters, Agnes Skoch and Martha O'Reilly. His first wife, Betty Resneder, preceded him in death in 1962. Born at Chickasha, OK on July 23, 1923 to Joseph J. Sr. & Frances Janda, Joe graduated from Amber High School before joining the US Army. He served in the European Theater during WWII and was honorably discharged in Aug. 1945. He was a member of American Legion Post #34 in El Reno. Joe attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) and later became employed with the US Soil Conservation Service. Moving to Geary, OK in 1958, he retired from the US Dept. of Interior in 1975 as a Conservation Specialist. He served as Geary City Councilman for 16 years and was a member of the Lions Club. An active member of St. John Nepomuk Parish in Yukon, he was a 65 year member of the Knights of Columbus, being elevated to 4th degree.
