Obituary For William "Gary" Huser

Sir Knight William “Gary” Huser was a member of Council 6478 for 41 years, and a member of Assembly 2044 for 39 years. He served as Financial Secretary for several years.

William Gary Huser, 77, of Yukon, OK, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024. Gary was born on June 3, 1947, in Neodesha, Kansas, to William Paul “Bill” and Lois Huser. He lived a life full of service, love, and dedication to his family and faith.

Gary graduated from Neodesha High School in 1965 and went on to attend Pittsburg State University in Kansas. Afterward, he proudly served for six years in the Army National Guard. On March 31, 1967, Gary was united in marriage to Donna Musgrove, and together they shared 57 years of love, partnership, and devotion. In July of 1976, Gary and Donna moved with their family from Wichita, Kansas, to Yukon, Oklahoma, where they made their home.

Gary was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and lived a life rooted in faith. He worked for many years as the owner of his own commercial tool repair business, retiring in 2012. Beyond his professional achievements, Gary was a passionate man who enjoyed reading, photography, and fishing. But above all, he cherished spending time with his family, who were the heart of his life.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Lois Huser; his sister, Kay Jackson; and his infant son, Steven Corey Huser.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Huser; his children, Nick and Stacey Huser, James and Vanessa Huser, Rebecca and Brian Cox, and Karen and Geoff White; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy to him.

Gary’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the love and support they have received throughout his life. Memorial donations in Gary’s honor may be made to the American Lung Association

New this month in Columbia Magazine, starting with the passage of Oregon's Compulsory Education Act in 1922, the Knights of Columbus embarked on a years-long legal battle against the Ku Klux Klan-backed bill to protect the rights of parents to choose a Catholic education for their children. On June 1, 1925, a century ago this month, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that parents do indeed have the right to choose a Catholic or any other religious education for their children. Here's the now century-old story of that fight for religious freedom: ... See MoreSee Less
