He was then sent to La Junta, CO where he was Area Supervisor of Communications for 22 years. He retired as a communications electronic engineer as area supervisor of communications on July 1, 1982 after 42 years of service. He was at his death a six-year president of the NARV unit 40. Carl and his wife also enjoyed traveling with the Good Sam Club of which he had served as president and the Wally Bynum Air Stream Club and was Colorado Unit President for a year. He was also a 23-year member of the Elks. Carl enjoyed playing golf and helping with the Special Olympics. He was an electronics buff and in his later years enjoyed his computer.
