Obituary For Edward "Ed" J. Schwarz

Edward J. "Ed" Schwarz, 85, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019, in Yukon, OK. He was born May 29, 1933, in Okarche, OK, the 14th child and last born to Michael and Caroline Schwarz.

Raised in Okarche, he attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and was a 1951 graduate of Okarche High School.

Upon graduation, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He spent most of his deployment in Japan on the LST825, where he was a diesel mechanic.

After his service in the Navy, Ed attended several diesel mechanic schools, eventually working as a diesel mechanic for White Motor Co. for 10 years and then worked as a maintenance supervisor for TransCon for 3 years. In 1973 Ed started his own business, Turbo Specialist in Oklahoma City and later opened another business in Dallas. In 1988 he sold his company and retired.

He was a member of the Exchange Club, Knights of Columbus, Sportsman’s Club, and Oklahoma City Power Squadron.

For approximately 40 years, Ed spent most of his weekends at Lake Eufaula boating and fishing.

One day while in the bank on business, he ran into an employee who was a dear friend from the 1960’s, Mary Jane Andres. They began seeing each other and married in August 2005, making their home in Yukon, OK, eventually moving to Spanish Cove Retirement Village in 2014.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: William, Joseph, Karl, Peter, Leo, John and Michael Schwarz; sisters, Anna Schwarz, Kathryn Kozel, Elizabeth Swansberger, Helen Cooper, Emma Jones, and Rose Marie Lewis; nephews, Robert Lewis and Michael Jones and nieces, Mary Ann Swansberger and Joyce Lewis Lodes.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; stepson, Robert Andres, and wife Amanda and their daughters, Shelby and Krista, and sister-in-law, Cathy Schwarz.
