Robert B. Barnes, age 85, of OKC, died February 5, 2014. Robert was born February 7, 1928, and adopted by John Burke Barnes and Dorothy E. Morrissey- Barnes. Bob deeply touched the lives of every single person he ever met. He was an adventurous spirit, enjoyed fishing and hunting with family, treasure hunting all over the U.S., and built elaborate model train layouts with great amusement. His love and devotion to his entire family is truly a virtue no one will ever forget. He started his career as Gen Mgr of JC Penney, then became General Manager of Shepherd Mall for 12 years, while later opening a line of hobby stores until his retirement in the 80s. He stayed active, later caring for his wife of 58 years, Marie, with tender care and love to her end in 2008. He was the sweetest man anyone could have hope to have as a father, husband, brother, or friend, and he will be desperately missed. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marie E. (Flusche) Barnes; adopted mother, Dorothy E. Barnes, father, J.B. Barnes, and brothers, Jack Barnes and Clarence Supplee; and a sister, Ruth Wangsgard. He is survived by son, Michael R. Barnes (wife Linda); daughters, Amy E. Barnes-Garcia (husband Carl) and Melissa A. Barnes-Townsend (husband Nick); grandchildren, Justin (wife Stephanie) Marcie (husband Matt), Tyler, Hayley and Ryan Garcia; and brother, Bill Dierker, of Tulsa (wife Lucy). Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady's Cathedral, located at 3214 N. Lake Ave., Oklahoma City.
