Obituary For Wesley "Wes" Franklin Hegwood

Wesley Franklin Hegwood, age 39, is now at rest in Christ after a long battle with cancer ended his life October 28, 1994. Born November 14, 1954 in Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri, to Walter F. and Edith F. Hegwood. Wes graduated from Lawton Eisenhower High School in 1972, and worked for Montgomery Wards as a Warehouse Manager (Penn Ssquare) and Moto Photo, managing the Bethany Store. In 1987, he returned to college to pursue his lifetime ambition of a career in chemistry. Wes was a member of the Mortar Board (Pi Sigma Alpha), member of Phi Lambda Upsilon (a National Honor Society) and Presidents Honor Roll. He was also a member of the American Chemical Society. While attending UCO, Wes worked for Kerr McGee Tech and since graduating for the State of Oklahoma as a Chemist at the Department of Agriculture and most recently the Department of Environmental Quality. Wes was a member of St. Johns Nepomuk Catholic Church where he started the choir guitar group. He also was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and currently held the Grand Knight of 3rd Degree. Donations may be made to the St. Johns Nepomuk Building Fund, Yukon, Ok, or the Center of Family Love, Okarche, Ok. The family would like to thank all the state employees who donated their annual leave pay during the four months that Wes was disabled. Wes is survived by his wife, Mary of 15 years; two daughters, Evelyn and Caitlin Hegwood; his mother, Edith Hegwood of Lawton, Ok; one brother, David Hegwood of Fletcher, Ok; one sister, Patty Nolen of Lawton, Ok; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws.
